A little bit about me…
I enjoy working with children of all ages; however, my 18 years of experience is kindergarten through fifth grade across all content areas. Having minored in English, I can also assist grades 6-12 in English Language Arts. Facilitating children’s learning, while fostering their educational needs is what I do best! There is flexibility in the types of support offered through one-on-one tutoring, small group, learning pods, and homeschooling groups. I am Nationally Board Certified, dependable, and committed to supporting the growth of your child(ren).
My training…
I was fortunate to work at an elementary school (L.A.U.S.D.) for 13 years. There I learned the nuts and bolts of teaching reading & writing. College gets you ready, but doesn’t prepare you for what actually happens in the classroom. Over the 13 years, I was trained in Reading and Writing Workshop methods from staff developers at Columbia University's Teachers College and trained in CGI (Cognitive Guided Instruction) methods from staff developers at UCLA Mathematics Project. I still attend continuous professional developments to grow my profession, and mentor new teachers in these methods. All educators would consider themselves, life-long learners!
